Team Balancing and Player Placement Policies

It is the policy of Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club that all players are required to attend player placement sessions. To attend these sessions you must be registered for the current season. To be registered means you have filled out registration paperwork and paid the registration fee in full OR have made acceptable payment arrangements with the HDSC office staff. Players applying for funding assistance must provide the HDSC office staff with a copy of the following support documents before coming to team balancing or player placement sessions:

1.      Jumpstart:  Please provide the reference number (NS…) that you received when applying.

2.      Kidsport:  Please provide your confirmation email.

3.      Notice of Assessment:  Please provide a copy of each parent's 2017 Notice of Assessment.

4.      Social Assistance:  Please provide your monthly support statement.

Players requesting Everyone Plays funding MUST apply for Jumpstart and Kidsport first, and must have been a club member in good standing for two seasons before they will be considered for in-house funding through Everyone Plays.

  • Players registered for the HDSC Skill Centre Programs (U08 to U12 age group) should check the team balancing session schedule posted here. All players registered for HDSC Skill Centre Programs must attend the applicable team balancing sessions. Please check back often as the schedule is subject to change.
  • Players registered for the U13 - U21 AAA, AA, A teams and Senior teams should check the player placement session schedule posted here. Please check back often as the schedule is subject to change.
  • Players MUST attend the team balancing or player placement session for their age group. Please be aware that in the fall most players will move up a level, especially in Skill Centre. However, if you played up a level in the summer you must attend the applicable session for your age group, unless you receive a communication from the club office asking you to attend a different age level. Please note that this formal communication will be the ONLY way that a player will be offered an overage assessment.
  • Skill Centre age groups are listed below by year of birth.
  • Please note that player assessment is an ongoing process. Players will be grouped based on their ability, as well as feedback from the coaches from their summer season.
  • Team coaches, in consultation with Club technical staff, will determine final player placements.
  • No player will be selected to a team unless they attend a team balancing or player placement session. If for some reason, injury, vacation, etc. you cannot attend the scheduled sessions, you will be provided an opportunity to be assessed by the coaches and technical staff at an upcoming training session.
  • No player will be placed on a team until their fees have been paid or acceptable payment arrangements have been made with the HDSC office staff.
  • Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club reserves the right to move players between teams before the transfer deadline.
